JOURNEY
I will make this as short as I can, since it’s pretty boring, anyway. Basically, I found out about HTML through Neopets when I was nine years old. I don’t know why, but it fascinated me. So
I learnt HTML and CSS and I decided I wanted my own website. I found freewebs, at this time, I was so naive. I thought domain names were free, so when I made my freewebs site, I typed it in the address bar with a .com. haha
Lets just say, I got better. My first website that was a success (or had a good amount of visitors, at least) was a Neopets help/graphic website that I made with my (now ex-) friend in September 2005 called Angel-Neo. This was where I learnt the most about web design and language, I believe. We stopped with it in January 2008 for several reasons. I wanted a personal site, I was getting tired of Neopets and honestly, our friendship was falling apart.
I had many personal websites during the course of Angel-Neo but I don’t remember any of them so that should tell you just how committed I was to them. After Angel-Neo I made Angel-Scribbles. Stupid name. I don’t know what on earth made me choose that, but I did.
I wanted to get hosted, (and change the name) a few months after starting Angel-Scribbles
and applied to many sub-domain hosts, being rejected four or five times before I was accepted by Chelsea (previous owner of anothermelody.net) and I chose the name “analytically” for my new site. Yes, without a capitol letter. I decided to contradict myself with it. It’s not very logical to start a title without a capitol letter, now is it? I had to study up on PHP and FTP, as I lied slightly, saying I knew them. I didn’t.
It didn’t take me long to learn the basics, I was surprised. But when she suggested I use wordpress, my mind went completely blank. She set it all up for me and soon enough I was back at it like that. Then, Gemma took over the domain. Everything was going wonderfully until something happened to her server and it reset all hers, mine, all her hostee’s and anyone else using that server’s websites back a couple weeks. We all lost quite a bit. Gemma was fed up with the server and informed me she was leaving. So she got hosted elsewhere and I decided to go for a wordpress blog, as I realized I much preferred blogging. And analytically.wordpress.com was born.
A wordpress blog sufficed for most of the summer of 2008 but then I realized how much I missed making my own layouts and coding them. And I decided I would look for another host. Searching around the net, I found so-pink.org, as recognized by divergente.org. I applied, was accepted on August 10th and had the layout and everything ready the very next day. Near the end of August, I somehow ended up deleting all my files and because Olivia has just switched servers, she had no backups and of course, I had never thought to make backups, myself. So I had to re-do everything. However, I decided I wanted to use wordpress for my blogging system again and Olivia was kind enough to make my layout into a theme on wordpress (I honestly have no clue how to do that, really, so I’m glad she was there to help).
And here I am, today. I’m still learning every day about web design. And I’m definitely getting better. I’ve improved so much and I have many people to thank for that. You can find them on my credits page. And of course, there are those who I can’t remember from way back when, my memory isn’t the greatest. One day, I will have my own domain, hopefully. But as for now, I’m perfectly happy with were I am.
